I have some very unfortunate news. Very upsetting for me in fact.
Just before Friday's Lion's Gate Upgrade MMRT I found out that my website host (TypePad) is shutting down and NOTHING will be accessible online after Sept 30th. THIRTY DAYS NOTICE they gave us! And now the TypePad site is not accessible so no one can get to their current blogs and websites.
I was a bit panicked and in shock when I saw the notice. And I've been looking at other options. First I need to make sure I can SAVE the code to my websites. All TypePad offers is download dump of the website in plain TXT. 17 years of work and building - I will get no images, no formatting, no custom design, no Buy Button links. Just words all lumped together. That is hardly adequate.
After building my sites over a period of 17 years (initially over 3 years then added) I hope to be able to bring everything into a new site. I am not spending a year or even 6 months on this. I just don't have that time. So I need to figure out where to have my site (host) and how to use my existing HTML.
Since I'm SLOW with all of this tech stuff and website building, It was important to save my HTML designed pages and have them be accessible to you (and me). I have discovered I can store my essential pages on Aweber in HTML email draft. The page is "published" (after mailing) into an archive which anyone can access. So that is my first step, saving the code in a way that you can still access programs and services.
I will of course, be looking at hosts and options. I need something easy and HTML. Word Press is not for me. It uses PHP and my brain does not grasp PHP. Plus it requires infinite number of Plug-ins to do anything. It's not straightforward like HTML or CSS code.
