The Equinox is TODAY September 22nd!   Equinox occurs when the hours of light and dark are the same -- in balance.   Equinox represents a shift in the seasons, and a time where the energy of the Sun and Moon are in complete balance.   Equinox is a point of balance within us too.  We are connected with our Earth and to each other so the Earth's energy and that of the Sun and the Moon is reflected in our own vibration as our energies sync up with those of the Earth.

In the Northern Hemisphere shifting into Autumn, the trees are getting ready to shed their leaves and let go of all the old.  The energy is that of releasing that which no longer serves us in order to refresh and nourish during winter.  In the Southern Hemisphere shifting into Spring, the flowers are beginning to bloom and the energy is that of blossoming forth after the winter of nourishing and refreshment.

2016 is definitely  a year of big changes and ending of the old and familiar.   The energy of the 2016 Equinox is going to further nudge us all to shed the things that we no longer need and embrace the new that is making itself felt.  In the Southern Hemisphere the energy of birthing new is increased as you move into Spring.  In the Northern Hemisphere, the energy of release and letting go of attachments is asking for letting go of all the fears and worries that have held you in destructive (or not constructive) patterns.

Since the energy of Equinox strongly nudges us to let go of the old and free up energetic "space" for the new, it is important to look to see what is asking to be let go of in your life.  What no longer serves you?  What are you carrying, doing, being just because you've always done, been or carried that?  Check in with your heart and solar plexus (gut) .. your body wisdom to see what to release.    Whatever you sense or are feeling nudged to release,  let go of.    Create a daily practice to shift you away from the old and allow in the new that is there waiting.  Your practice should not be involved (you won't do it!) and can be as simple as asking yourself each morning, "what no longer serves me that I can release today? ... with ... I commit to embracing and allowing the new into my life today." 

 It is important that we continually check in with our heart, gut and body wisdom to see what we are carrying that is no longer serving us.  To not do this would be like embarking on a lifelong walk, starting out with just what we needed for our journey then collecting new and beautiful things along the way and adding them into our backpack.  Before long we'd become rather uncomfortable with the joy gone out of our journey as we lug this weighty, overburdened, bursting backpack.  To continue to move forward and enjoy our journey, we must sit down and take stock of what's now in our backpack and get rid of that which is no longer needed or of use.  Once we let go of what is no longer service we are free to joyfully move forward.
